FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

David Mark N. Paperny
David Mark N. PapernyFeb. 1951 - Nov. 2019 David "Doc" Paperny, 68, passed away in Vietnam surrounded by his devoted son Jerry, loving daughter-in-law Dao and 5 grandchildren. Raised in California by Sam & Charlotte Paperny, he lived in Honolulu for more than 4 decades. David loved Hawaii and embraced its people & culture. He learned to speak Hawaiian, to understand the meanings of hula dancing and its beautiful culture. He danced with different groups for 40 years and competed in the Merrie Monarch Festivals. Every year he volunteered for Keiki Hula and donated to the Keiki Hula Scholarship Fund. Even though he was not of Hawaiian ancestry, he was given a Hawaiian name- for which he was very proud! "Doc" was a member of the Hawaiian Civic Club, volunteering his time and being an advocate for the Hawaiian people. Doc worked as a pediatrician at Kaiser for many years, taking care of babies, children and teens in the community. He volunteered his time for children's diabetes camps, and other groups that helped improve the lives of children in many countries. Doc was honored to participate in the Aloha Week and Kamehameha Day parades. We will all miss our beloved friend! A memorial service and celebration of David's life will be held Saturday, November 30 from 4:00-8:00pm at Oahu Mortuary. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Mortuary

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
