His passions were his family, caring for his patients, photography, woodworking, gardening, and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Judy, and daughters, Jennifer Sugita and Janelle (Daniel) Perez, grandson Jaydan Perez, and brother John (Pam). He was predeceased by his children, Julian Makoto, Leland Shogo, and Michelle Mie.
