After retirement, he worked part-time as a Kaneohe City Mill Home Improvement Representative and finally as a contractor for Aloha Airlines; where he and Carol enjoyed the industry's travel benefits. Loving father to Tammy Lynne Barayuga (Alvin), Gregory Paul Yukio Suenaga (Linda), and Kimberly Anne Suenaga. Fantastic grandfather to Luke, Kyle, Jace, Zoe and Zak. He enjoyed taking them fishing, visits to the zoo and various museums, mountain hiking, going to the movies, going on trips and teaching them how to swim. Franklin participated in community activities such as Scout Leader-Pack 256 (co-founded the "HONCHOS" Drill Team with Ed Chang in which they participated in city parades). Franklin was also an instructor for the Red Cross' Learn to Swim Campaign for the young adults swimming program. An avid runner up until his illness, he was one of the Founders/ Officers of the HECO Fun Runners. Franklin competed 22 Honolulu Marathons, multiple half-marathons, Tinman competitions, 10K races, and Rough Water Swims. For fun, he enjoyed holiday camping with the family at local windward beach parks such as Kualoa and Bellows; and also the Kaneohe Sand Bar, where they enjoyed water skiing and fishing. Franklin is survived by his wife Carol and children, sisters and a brother: Doris "Dolly" F. Tomita (Walter), Kenneth T. Suenaga, and Audrey A.
