61, of Kailua, HI, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in Towson, MD after a long and brave fight with leukemia. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 5, 1958. Brent attended Colorado State University, where he met the gal who would become his wife, and received a degree in wildlife biology. He and Sally were married in Honolulu on July 23, 1983. Brent went to work at Honolulu Zoo as an elephant trainer. In 1992, he was chosen to travel to India to bring back the gift of a three-year-old Asian elephant named Vaigai. Elephants were a lifelong passion. In 1995, Brent started his conservation work with the State of Hawaii. He strived to protect native Hawaiian plants and animals. Survived by wife Sally and son Lincoln Liesemeyer; siblings: Kent, Scott, Lori and Tracy. Celebration and scattering of ashes, Saturday, December 21 at 7:00am at Kailua Beach Park.
