Erminie “Erm” Cherie Crockett Gartley
May 22, 1930 - June 23, 2019 Erm was born in Honolulu to Judge Wendell Francis and Myrtle Lau Crockett. She attended Wailuku Elementary, Kaunoa, and Maui High. In 1948 she graduated from Punahou School having set records for the state 100-yard freestyle and qualifying for the 1948 U.S. Olympic swimming trials. She received bachelor's and master's degrees from The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. In 1957 she settled in Kaneohe and taught at both Castle High and King Intermediate for 20 years. Punahou, Michigan, KCAA, Iolani Palace, and the American Cancer Society all benefitted from her volunteer support. Survived by: Husband Fred Gartley; Daughter Lynne (Henry) Meyer; Grandchildren Valerie (Rick) Liptak, Jane Galluzzi, Richard Galluzzi, and Diane Galluzzi. Predeceased by Son Richard Gartley. Service: Saturday, January 4, visitation at 4:30 PM and service at 5:00 PM at Oahu Cemetery.
