Florence Eiko Matsukawa, of Aiea, passed away December 12, 2019 at age 88. Professionally, she had been an elementary school teacher, but in her personal life, she was a wife, mother, grandmother, gardener, world traveler, entrepreneur and health food devotee. Florence could drop seeds in any kind of soil, and the plant would flourish. People passing by the house routinely picked up seedlings, herbs and fruit she left on the curb. Florence enjoyed daily walks and growing and selling pikake leis, a business that involved the entire family. She was also adept at making cone sushi and Spam musubi, which she would share with the neighbors. She is survived by her husband, Joe, two daughters and five grandchildren, who will work to continue her legacy of educating and caring for others. The family thanks Nayda and Gladys Gamiao for their compassionate care in Mom's last days. Private services were held.
