Elizabeth Kauila Poaha Reyes
A Molokai Treasure- Moe Me Ka Maluhia Lani 93, embodied the meaning of "Aloha". She was the longest living Kumu hula on Molokai, a well-known kupuna throughout the Molokai schools, a long-time educator, cultural advocate and Hawaiian Studies specialist for Kamehameha Schools. She passed away peacefully with the grace of her hula hands on November 1, 2019, at her home in Kalama'ula, Molokai, surrounded by her 'ohana. She was born on April 19, 1926, in Kawela, Molokai. She is survived by five children: Clarence Leong Loo, Sharon (Socho) Nishihira, Keith (Stephanie) Reyes, Fred (Louann) Reyes, and Phillip (Cheryl) Reyes. Predeceased by husband Salvador Reyes, Sr., and children Salvador (Elaine) Reyes, Jr., and Odetta Reyes Rapanot. She had 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at St. George Church in Waimanalo, Oahu Visitation: 9:00 a.m.; Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Molokai Services on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at St. Damien Church of Molokai; Visitation: 8:00 a.m.; Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Please, no wreaths.
