Preceded in death by wife, Jessie (Kutaka) Taketa, he is survived by his daughter, Corinne Root; son, Mitchell (Sandra) Taketa; granddaughter, Shelby Taketa; sisters, Edna Ching and Lily (Carl) Taketa Lum.
