FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

PHYLLIS N.T. SHEA
Phyllis passed away on December 9, 2019 at her home in Honolulu. She was born on October 2, 1940 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Edward and Dorothy Shea. Phyllis attended St. Patrick School, is a graduate of Maryknoll High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Chaminade University in Honolulu. Phyllis would go on to become a Certified Public Accountant and joined James Wong as a practicing accountant in 1962. She became a partner in 1966. She founded her own company in 1970. Phyllis was Trustee for the Chaminade University Education Foundation, Lanakila Rehabilitation Center, Hawaii Community Scholarship Program and the Hawaii Tax Institute Foundation. She was also a Board Member for Sacred Hearts Academy, Palolo Chinese Home and the ARC of Hawaii. Among her many awards, she received the Outstanding Alumnus of Chaminade University in 1977. She also was recognized as a Woman of Achievement by the American Society of Women's Accountants (ASWA) in 1990 and Small Business Association Accounting Advocate State of Hawaii in 1990. She was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Richard and Randall Shea. She is survived by her five sisters, Thelma (Gilbert) Lum, Juliette Chock, Audrey Akana, Carolyn Hee and Sandra (Clifton) Furukawa and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be on Monday, January 20, 2020 at St. Patrick's Church in Kaimuki. Viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Mass to follow. Burial will be at Diamond Head Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. Aloha attire.
