GARRY KWOCK MING CHUN
Passed away on December 16, 2019. Born on March 23, 1962, Garry was a graduate of 'Iolani School (Class of 1980) and obtained his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii. Garry worked at 'Iolani School in the Audio Visual and Communications Departments for over 22 years, supporting the entire school campus-wide. As the Media Services Specialist, he was in charge of audio and video recording, and the coordination, planning and support of countless school events, performances and activities. He was dedicated to his craft, possessed a rare old school work ethic, and brought historical knowledge and a strong foundation to the school's audio visual department. Outside of his work at 'Iolani, Garry was a well known and highly respected trumpeter in the Hawaii music scene and played and recorded for many top local and international artists. He also lent his musical talents to the 'Iolani School orchestra and band in numerous school productions. Garry was quiet in nature with a soft heart and gentle soul. He was a devoted son and caregiver to his parents, Edward Koon Moo Chun and June Leong Chun. He is survived by his brother, Keith, and sister-in-law Jackie. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Seto Hall, 'Iolani School, 563 Kamoku Street, with parking available in the school's parking structure entrance on Kamoku Street. Doors will open at 4:30pm. Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the cafeteria. In lieu of monetary gifts or flowers, the family suggests a donation to the 'Iolani School Communication and Audio Visual Departments in honor of Garry.
