FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

HON TING CHEE
HON TING CHEEHon Ting Chee, owner and pharmacist of Pali Drugs from 1967 to 1996, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in Honolulu. He was beloved by his customers and employees alike. He outlived his original golfing foursome formed in 1949. They played together for 50 years. His favorite social activity was dining out with associates and friends. He would go out to lunch with his same friends regularly for over 30 years. He was in ROTC at UH, and joined the Army Air Corps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After training, he was assigned to the 306 bomb group of the 8th Air Force in Thurleigh, England as a B-17 navigator. He survived 35 combat missions including missions over Frankfurt, Munich, and Berlin. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals. He was recalled for 21 months for the Korean War, transporting wounded troops from Tokyo to Honolulu. After the wars, he worked at various locations of Stewart's Pharmacy until he bought Mizobi's Pharmacy in Kailua and renamed it Pali Drugs. He was a trusted advisor to his customers and active in the Pharmacists' Association. He was preceded in death by wife Yun Tau Chee (Miss Hawaii 1948), sons Kendell and Wendell; brothers Hon Chung, Hon Hoong, and sister Mew Lan Young. He is survived by sons Darrick and Brandon; sister Mew Heong Goo and brothers Hon Ping and Percival H.Y. Chee. Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea Chapel. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
