Brian Takao Takishima
Brian Takao Takishima, 64, of Kailua-Kona, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born in Honolulu on October 24, 1955 to Norman and Tsunako Takishima. Brian was raised in Honolulu, attended Kaimuki High School and worked in food and beverage services. He moved to Hawaii Island and was a bartender at the Kona Pool Bar at the Hilton Waikoloa Village for 30 years. When asked what he liked about his job he responded, "just look at my office," referring to the beauty of the view around him. He enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. Brian loved fishing with friends, acquired a boat and taught himself about navigation, weather, and ways of the ocean. He was thoughtful, resourceful, funny, generous, honest, and hardworking. He had many interests, including golf, music, cooking, gardening, bonsai, astronomy, and traveling with family and friends. An avid reader of current events and sports, he read two newspapers every day from cover to cover. He is survived by his wife Lisa Kawamoto; step-sons Antoni and Peter Valenti; grandson Kaikane Thatcher-West; mother Tsunako "Sue" Takishima and family.
