Louis Stephen Carmona
Louis Stephen CarmonaLongtime Ewa Beach resident Colonel Louis Stephen Carmona, age 86, passed away on November 13, 2019 at the Palolo Chinese Home in Honolulu after many years of living with dementia. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Carole. His daughter, Laura, was with him at the time of his passing. Lou was born in 1933 in New York City. He graduated from Central Commercial High School in NYC in 1951 and joined the Navy for two years. After getting a degree in Occupational Therapy from NYU, he joined the Army. He met his wife, Carole, when they were both camp counselors in upstate New York during the summer of 1955 and married the following year. He went on to become a Colonel in the Army, serving as an Occupational Therapist throughout his 30-year career before settling in Hawaii for his final assignment at Tripler Army Medical Center until his retirement in 1986. After retirement, Lou and Carole enjoyed traveling to many foreign countries and to visit their children and grandchildren. Lou's favorite hobby was listening to music. Lou is survived by his four children, Laura (Tristan), Elizabeth, Stephen, and Louis (Tamyra), seven grandchildren, and two brothers, Joe and Manny. In addition to his wife Carole, he was predeceased by his sisters Elizabeth and Jennie. His family invites all who knew him to join us on February 7, 2020 for his funeral Mass, Interment and Celebration of Life in Honolulu: 9:30-11:30 Visitation; 11:30 Funeral Mass - Blessed Sacrament Church, 2124 Pauoa Rd. 1:00-1:15 Interment with Honor Guard - National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl). 2:00-5:00 Celebration of Life (Pupus and Cocktails) - Hale Koa Hotel, Laulima Suite, 2055 Kalia Rd.
