FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Jeter “Jet” P. Battley, Jr.
of Annapolis, MD., passed away on May 11, 2019. Born in Ashville N.C. on February 16, 1926. He served as a Gunners Mate in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Frederick Funston (APA-89) in the Pacific Theater. He worked for the US Coast and Geodetic Survey as a cartographer/photogrametrist. Jet loved sailing, wintering in Hawaii, was an avid reader and a long time Washington Redskins football fan and a Washington Nationals baseball fan. His memberships included Elks Lodge 622 and the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 22. Survived by wife, Lamela Holt Battley, daughters, Cynthia Rincon of Atlanta, GA., and Melissa Battley; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his daughter Shari Newton. Private services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
