Christina Remie Rose (Duhaylonsod) Simms
Christina Remie Rose (Duhaylonsod) SimmsBeloved Christina "Tina" Simms, 36, of Honolulu, was found on Dec. 26 (one day after Christmas 2019) in her studio apartment, located in the Liliha area of downtown, Honolulu. She was born on June 21, 1983, at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. Christina worked at a snorkeling company in Waikiki as well as volunteered at the Honolulu Zoo and Humane Society, while she was attending Kaimuki High School. She also worked in the Hawaii State Capitol as a legislative aide, under State Representative Rida Cabanilla. Christina also recently had two birds, Lovely and Sun Flower, and she brought them wherever she went. Before she passed, she reluctantly gave "her babies" to a pet clinic in Kaneohe. Christina's survivors includes mother Jenny Duhaylonsod Delos Santos, an editorial clerk (of more than 17 years) in the newsroom of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, formerly called Honolulu Star-Bulletin; brother Charles Bullbuck Simms; father Frank Simms, a recently retired UPS employee in Honolulu; and step-father Pancho Cordero Delos Santos, an educational specialist for the University of Hawaii at Manoa and originally from Kahului, Maui. Other survivors includes mom's family side-Sister Lily Remedias Duhaylonsod FSP, a Daughters of St. Paul nun, who now resides in Boston, Mass.; Dora Duhaylonsod and Jay Inouye, with children Lily and Lukas Chan; Adele and Ken Tangjian, with children Jessica and husband Antawn Bradley as well as Kendria Tangjian and grandson Zai Tangjian-Burns; David and Dayna Duhaylonsod, with son Kai; and Denise and David Oliveira, with children Nathan, Del-Louis, Prya and David Oliveira. On stepfather Pancho family's side includes Dan and Bernie Felicilda Delos Santos, with children Ashley Delos Santos, Lesley and Keahi Masusako, with children Ronin and Rain as well as Ka'i and Timothy Herrick, with children Cameron, Taytum, Shaylee and Hali'a, Kepa and Sarah Niles, Kahala Niles, and Kahiki Niles, with children Mauri'i, Nui and Lili'a. Christina's father, Frank, side of the family include grandmother Rosita Simms, David Simms, Charles and wife Josie Simms, with daughter Crystal and son Jerrold, Jeffrey Simms as well as William and wife Hillary Simms. Funeral for Christina Simms is on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, located on 91-1004 North Road, Ewa Beach. Visitation is at 9:30 a.m., and Mass is at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow after Mass. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on February 22 at Mililani Memorial Park.
