DORA AKAU BROWN MARTINEZ
DORA AKAU BROWN MARTINEZOur beloved mother passed away January 8, 2020 at home in Kapolei. She was 97 years old born on February 4, 1922 to Joseph Akau Sr. and Elizabeth Nuuhiwa Holualoa. Dora retired from Dora's Lei Stand at age 90. She was the Grand Marshall Of the 2000 Aloha Week Parade, featured on PBS as a Master Crafter of Hawaii and one of the last surviving Lei Seller from the boat days at Aloha Tower. Dora is predeceased by husbands William B. Martinez & Francis Kipapa Brown, sons Larry and Kalani Brown, Billy Martinez and daughter Martha Lou Okuda. Of her 14 children Dora is survived by sons Francis, Lopaka (Amy), Nathan, James & Sam (Renee) Brown, Daughters Fern Delos Santos, Rachael Branco Mervyn, Aileen (Steven) Camello, Dora Ganeau & Jessica (Jeff) Sternitsky, 46 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 10 great- great-grandchildren. She is survived by Sisters Elizabeth Griffin, Ethel Kahili & Brother Norman Akau. Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 20, 2020, visitation 9am and Services 10 am at Mililani Mortuary Downtown Chapel, 20 South Kukui St. Honolulu. Burial 1pm, Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery Kaneohe.
