MUHARDINI KAMARWAN GOLDSTEIN
MUHARDINI KAMARWAN GOLDSTEINFebruary 26, 1931 to January 22, 2020 88, of Pearl City, loving wife of Laurence Goldstein and devoted mother of Harsjasti Kamarwan Los Baños and Harsjarif Kamarwan Goldstein, died Jan. 22 at home. She was born in East Java, Indonesia, and taught English for several years in Yogyakarta, including for the U.S. Agency for International Development, before coming to Hawaii to attend the East West Center in 1963. She had a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and worked as a Chapter One teacher with the Department of Education and in accounting services for various businesses in Honolulu. In retirement she was multi-talented, studying ukulele and hula and creating beautiful Hawaiian quilts and numerous pillow covers. She introduced and taught the art of Hawaiian quilting to ladies working at the National Library of Indonesia in Jakarta. She was a creative gardener, growing a wide variety of flowers and fruits. She is also survived by son-in-law Todd Los Baños, daughter-in-law Jennifer Garcia Goldstein, and grandchildren Jenna Leah Kamarwan Belden (and her husband August Kino Belden), James Todd Los Baños, Quinn Marley Garcia Goldstein, and Mara Jessilyn Garcia Goldstein and many family members in Indonesia. Her ashes will be placed in The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Private services.
