SANDRA “SANDIE” LIBBY
Age 75, of Kailua, passed away on January 10th, 2020. In 1944, Sandie was born Atsuko Yasukochi in the Japanese American concentration camp at Tule Lake, California. She graduated in 1962 from George Washington High School in San Francisco and went on to earn her college degree at San Francisco City College. She obtained her license as a Registered Nurse and subsequently began her nursing career at San Francisco General Hospital. Sandie married the love of her life, Roland Libby in 1976 and the couple eventually settled in Hawaii to start their family. Sandie and her husband were the proud parents of their only child, son, Ryan. Sandie had a prosperous career in Hawaii and later retired as the Director of Medical Affairs at HMSA. Sandie touched many individuals over the course of her life. For those who knew Sandie, she was quick-witted, straightforward, and of strong character. She was an avid animal lover and always had a menagerie of furry friends by her side throughout her entire life. Sandie had a love for travel, golfing, and socializing with close friends. Sandie's formidable presence will be deeply missed by many. As part of her last wishes, her son's closest friends scattered her ashes off the coast of Makapu'u Lighthouse, where her husband and son were previously laid to rest. It is here that Sandie, Roland, and dearest son Ryan will forever rest in peace together.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
