Richard Yoshikatsu Miyata of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the age of 86. Richard passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Ruby and their children by his side. Richard was born in Honolulu on July 16, 1933, to Daniel S. & Tamaki Miyata. He attended St. Louis College for twelve years and a proud graduate of the class of 1951. As a member of the 1949 State Champion football team, Richard continued his football career at the University of Dayton, where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. After graduating, Richard began his life long career in insurance. He was an agent with First Insurance for over 40 years and for the past 26 years as an agent with Pyramid Insurance Centre. He is survived by his wife Ruby Miyata; children Dru (Cathy) Miyata, Clayton (Lynelle) Miyata, Dian (Kirk) Nahale, Traci (James) Paige, and Nial (Makoto) Miyata; grandchildren Jordan Miyata, McKenna Miyata, McKenzie Miyata, Blaine Nahale, Christopher Paige, Steven Miyata and Nikki Miyata. Richard's Celebration of Life will be held at Diamond Head Mortuary on Sunday, March 15, 2020. Visitation will begin at 10am, services to begin at 11am. Casual attire.
