MICHAEL “SPANKY” ALAPA’I HANAPI
"Spanky" or "Papa" to his ohana and grandkids, went to be with our Kupuna on November 29, 2019. He was born on January 29, 1936 to Emperor and Dorothy Hanapi (both deceased). Graduate of Roosevelt Rough Riders c/o 1954, he was a U.S Air Force Military Radar Operator stationed in Japan. Michael had a full career with the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller and trainer. He was an avid golfer, as well as an Elk and Odd Fellows Brother. He held the martial arts rank of 2nd Dan with the Japan Karate Federation. He is survived by his wife, Corazon Hanapi; daughters, Michele Luisa Hanapi-Auna and Diane Hanapi; grandchildren: Michael-Noel Duke Kealiimoiwai, Micah Nainoa Nohea Alapa'i Auna, Keomailani Thurston and Alapa'i Yoshikawa-Hanapi. A hui hou, malama pono Papa Mike. Private Celebration of Life and scattering of ashes.
