Michael Anthony Higgins was born on June 6, 1963 in Honolulu. Michael graduated from The Kamehameha Schools, Class of 1981, and continued his education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa earning a BFA in photography and design. He continued his education at New York University where he earned a certificate in film.
A mindful, creative, and gracious soul, Michael had an extraordinary gift of melding images, words, and music to communicate ideas. Show & Tell, his company for over 30 years, collaborated with local and national organizations, many in healthcare, education, finance, and the arts, to convey their messages with creativity and flair. His easygoing can-do attitude attracted many repeat clients over the years, many with whom he formed lifelong friendships.
Michael was the site manager for the annual Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawai'i ceremony since it began in 1999. He also worked with native Hawaiian groups and the Polynesian Voyaging Society on various projects, including the 2017 homecoming of the Hokule'a's Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife Suzanne; daughters Alana and Marika; parents Francis and Dianne Higgins; siblings Lani Avis (James) and Paul Higgins; cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the healthcare professionals at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua for their dedication and compassion in caring for Michael.
