FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Harry Akio “Manoa” Yoneshige
Harry Akio 88, of Kaneohe, passed away on April 8, 2020 at Adventist Health Castle Hospital. He was born in Honolulu and graduated from McKinley High where he excelled in football and baseball.
Harry was a 20-year U.S. Army combat veteran who served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He then worked for the US Postal service for 26 years where his last assignment was a walking route serving lower Nuuanu to include the Cultural Plaza. Harry played in various softball leagues well into his seventies, to include the Puohala Makule Club in Kaneohe and the Meija Makule league at Kawananakoa School. He was also a supporter of Kaneohe AJA baseball. After retirement, he enjoyed meeting up with his friends, the "River Rats" in Vegas. He loved being outdoors working in his yard and watching his grandkids' school and sporting events. He was also known to enjoy a beer or two.
Harry is survived by his wife, Tokie; daughter, Naomi (Harvard) Sumida and son, Michael (Melanie); grandchildren; Leigh (Jarvis) Nohara, Seamus Yoneshige, Kamryn Yoneshige and sister Teruko Tanimitsu. Preceded in death by 3 older brothers and 3 older sisters.
Private services were held and Harry was laid to rest at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.
