84, hard-working husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2020 at Queens Medical Center, with his wife and daughter holding his hands and his wife serenading him.He was born October 23, 1935 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Mateo Pascua Baptista and former Segundina Ventura. With a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from National University in Manila, he worked as a civilian electrical engineer at Fort Aguinaldo for four years before working with Page Communications Engineers in Vietnam during the war. In 1962 he married Andrea Simeon of San Mateo, Isabela, and in 1968 they set out to build a new life, sailing to Honolulu aboard the ship SS President Cleveland. Soon thereafter, they had their first and only child. Alfredo was a journeyman electrician for 26 years, a member of Hawaii Electricians/IBEW. After retirement in 1994, he single-handedly built his Kalihi Valley home. With an unwavering work ethic, he kept busy until his final week of life, maintaining his rental properties, repairing friends' homes, rebuilding home appliances, and installing automatic residential gates. Known for his adventurous spirit, he was often seen moped-cruising around Oahu until age 81! He traveled the world with his wife to Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, across US, and Canada. In February 2020, they enjoyed seeing once more the places of their birth, Ilocos Norte and Isabela. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Andrea, daughter Geri Ann (Jason Allan), and grandsons Carter, Jace, and Mateo. Celebration of life will be held at a future date.
