Thomas E. Brennan Jr. was born in Chicago in 1938. He was an IRS agent at the Chicago office from 1962, until his relocation to the office in Honolulu in 1969. In 1974, he transferred to the Federal Energy Administration, the for-runner of the U.S. Department of Energy, opening an office in Honolulu with additional oversight in Guam, American Samoa & the Mariana Islands. He left federal service in 1982 & started a new career in environmental conservation, eventually specializing in energy efficient lighting. He introduced several new efficient lighting technologies to the islands during his career & remained active in the business until recently. He passed away on February 4, 2020. He is survived by sons Sean, James, Terry, and daughter Kimberly (Pascual), and four grandchildren.
