Joshua Ho'omanawanui Akana, 96, of Honolulu died peacefully on April 15, 2020. He was born on May 24, 1923 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. A World War II veteran, he was a dedicated employee of Sears Roebuck & Co. for 37 years where he rose to the position of Outlet Store Manager. He also served as President of Hawaii Pacific Federal Credit Union's Board of Trustees. After retiring, he devoted his life to the work of God as Associate Pastor of Kealaokamalamalama Church.Joshua is survived by his wife of 69 years Gladys, daughter Meredith, sons Glenn and Reuben, brother Benjamin, 3 granddaughters, 9 great-grand- children and 2 great-great-grand- children. Services will be scheduled at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions.
