He served in the United States Army and retired as a Mason with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #1 of Hawaii. He is survived by Sons: Rodney Hurd, Clarence Petty Jr., Vanray Petty, Charles Murray (Hanai son), Daughters: Essence Shalom, Karasalla James, Idette Petty, Vena Petty, 29 Grandchildren, 34 Great-Grandchildren and is Preceded in passing by wife Rosalie Petty and daughter Angel Lucas.
