Sachie "Betty" Johnson, (nee Takamori), passed away peacefully on May 3, 2020 at the age of 96. She was born in Pahoa, Hawaii in 1923. She graduated with the class of 1941 from Hilo High School. As a retired School Secretary at Kailua Elementary and Keolu Elementary Schools, she made many close friends. She was an avid reader, an artist, a great cook, a talented seamstress, gardener, an enthusiastic tourist who had a curiosity about everything and most of all she was generous with her time and support. Betty never tired of going back to the Big Island to visit Pahoa, hike around the Volcano and enjoy the vista of Mauna Kea.
She was loved by her husband Ronald Johnson (predeceased), children: Keith (Rita) Johnson, Sandi Johnson, Dale (Debbie) Johnson and Pam (Andy) McRae; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; her sisters Tsuyuko (Karuo) Iwane, Hideko (Lefty) Arakawa, two nephews, four nieces. She will be dearly missed.
The family wishes to thank Edna Lomboy, and the staff at Kailua Ohana for their compassionate care. We will honor her in everything we do.
