Al Pi'ikea Miyamoto died peacefully at home on Friday March 27, 2020 surrounded by family and friends. She was born on September 4, 1949 in Honolulu to mother Florence Kamakaopiopio Clark and father Alfred Miyamoto. A graduate of Punahou Academy and the University of Northern Colorado, Pi'ikea spent her career as a special education teacher at Castle Highschool, inspiring and educating her "kids" through 'aina based education. She was instrumental in developing Castle's lo'i kalo, where it has been happily maintained by and shared with students, teachers and the community for many years. Pi'ikea was an aloha 'aina warrior, passionately driven to acts of malama 'aina, support of Kaho'olawe, and native rights activism. A gifted artist with a fierce, kolohe spirit, Pi'ikea touched the lives of many through music and art, and her endless capacity to share aloha. Pi'ikea is survived by the 'ohana Miyamoto, Clark, Paoa and Sterling, and beloved friends.
