FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ERIC L. ADAMS, JR.
ERIC L. ADAMS, JR. Eric, "Rick", passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2020, with his family at his side. He was the oldest child of Eric L. and Charlotte "Lottie" Adams. Raised in Kailua, he enjoyed youth sports and ocean adventures with his father. He attended the Kamehameha Schools and excelled in athletics, academics, and ROTC. He was a proud graduate of the Class of 1970. He furthered his education at the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Hawai'i.
Eric enjoyed a successful 35-year career with the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD). He progressed through the ranks and retired as an Assistant Fire Chief in 2010. He was extremely proud of his career and his extended HFD ohana.
His life-long participation in sports and competition followed him from his youth to retirement. His retirement years were filled with golf and softball. He belonged to the Mixed Nuts, HFD "D" Division, and Black and Blue golf clubs. He was also a member of the Firehouse Softball Team in the Oahu Senior Softball League.
Travel, dining, and gambling were activities that he enjoyed. Eric traveled throughout the U.S. and to many countries, but his favorite destination was the "Ninth Island," Las Vegas. He was happiest standing at the craps table or playing black jack.
Family was the true love of Eric's life. Eric was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughters, Bree Adams (Rolithius) Sharper, Ashlee Adams; mother, "Lottie"; siblings, Russell, Lorri (Billy) Boyd, Randy; aunts, uncles, cousins, and three generations of nieces and nephews.
Eric lived his life with determination, strength, courage, grace, and humility. He faced his health challenges with those same qualities. Eric was a true Warrior.
The Adams Ohana would like to extend their sincere Mahalo to the many physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals from Kaiser Permanente, Cancer Center of Hawai'i, and Navian Hawai'i for their dedication and compassion.
