Katherine Freitas was born on January 18, 1936 and passed away on March 16, 2020 in her home in Waipahu. Katherine grew up in Kaneohe and went to McKinley High School. She fell in love with Melvin De Freitas at the age of 16, through love letters while he was deployed. She married in 1952 and together they had 6 children. Katherine enjoyed the simple things in life, time with family, raising her poodles and outings with her husband who passed in 2004 after 52 years of marriage. Katherine is now reunited with both her husband Melvin and son Elliot Freitas in heaven.She is survived by her son Melvin De Freitas Jr and four daughters; Stephanie (Greg) Camara, Katherine (Nick) Marrone, Dorinda Freitas and Sabrina (John) Vierra. She has 11 grand- children and 16 great-grand- children along with many nieces and nephews. Services for Katherine were private due to Covid 19 regulations and she has been laid to rest at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetary on June 5th 2020.
