Sharon Duane Burnett Olsen, 90, passed away on May 21, 2020 at her home in Kailua, surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Olsen.Sharon was born on June 19, 1929, in San Francisco, as the only child of Donald and Kate Burnett. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1946.
In 1948, she met Roy Olsen on a trip to Hawaii. They married a month later and were together for 64 years.
Sharon is survived by her children, Debra (John) Stewart and Richard (Bridget) Olsen, her grandchildren David (Lena) Andrade, Michael (Haunani), Michelle, and John Stewart, Heather, Richard, and Alessandra Olsen, and six great- grandchildren.
Sharon worked at Island Camera and Gift Stores for over 30 years. She loved movies and TV, traveling the world, and UH sporting events. She was a lifelong animal lover who received an award from the Hawaiian Humane Society for rescuing and rehoming stray cats.
Sharon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed. A private family service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Nu'uanu Memorial Park and Mortuary. Private burial will follow on June 30, 2020 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery
