Our beloved Matriarch Gertrude (Trudy) Chang Yee, passed away at the age of 100 on May 27, 2020. She was born in Honolulu on December 30, 1919, the daughter of Charles Koon Yat Chang and Ying Fong Leong. Trudy had 10 brothers and sisters. She attended Sacred Hearts Convent and graduated from Sacred Hearts Academy in 1940. She married her sweetheart, Frederick K. S. Yee in 1941. Fred and his brother Peter purchased the family company in 1950, and built Yick Lung into a multi-million dollar corporation. Following Fred's passing in 1991, Trudy became President/CEO of Yick Lung Co., Inc., CELY Enterprises Inc., F & P Distributors, Central Investment Inc., and Teakwood Originals, Inc. Trudy was a determined, strong-minded, dynamic community leader with a beautiful smile and was a member of many community organizations. Trudy's memorial service was held on July 15, 2020. Trudy is survived by her son Douglas(Caroline)Yee; her daughter Patricia (Daniel) Ching; her grandchildren Derek (Carissa) Ching, Grant (Chieko) Ching and Elizabeth Yee (Theodore Coons), and four great-grandchildren Sara Ching, Ethan Ching, Wiley Coons and Cate Coons.
