FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Harvey Patrick Lee
Harvey Patrick LeeLt. Col. Harvey Patrick Lee Jr. passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the age of 88. Harvey was born in Honolulu to Harvey Patrick Lee and Margaret Neves Lee on February 7th, 1932 and after graduating from St. Louis High School was able to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa on a basketball scholarship. Before the "Fabulous Five" of the early 1970s, in the early 1950s Harvey was one of the five starters on the University of Hawaii's basketball team that were later known as the "The Forgotten Five." They were the last of the successful UH teams of "home-grown players" before the university recruited athletes from the mainland and they played a mixed schedule in Hawaii and made annual road trips to the mainland with wins against Southern California, Oregon State, Memphis State, and Pepperdine. While at UH, Harvey was also a member of the Hui Lokahi and the Banyan Tree Organization.

Upon graduation, Harvey enlisted in the United States Air Force and as a pilot was posted at various sites in the United States, Europe, and the Pacific for the next 20 years. He survived the crash of his KB-50 in the Bermuda Triangle and tours of duty in Vietnam. In retirement he earned a Masters in Educational Administration, worked at the State Legislature, and volunteered with his wife Betsy at St. Francis Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Betsy Allen Lee, his daughter Victoria Lee, his son Patrick Lee, and daughter Minda Goodman (husband James Goodman). Services will be held at a later date.
