Alfred attended McKinley High School and joined the Navy during World War II. He left the Navy after the war ended and worked as an aircraft mechanic at Hickam Air Force Base until he retired.
He was a Master Mason of the Hawaiian Lodge and a member of Wong Kong Har Tong Society. Alfred was always making jokes and enjoyed entertaining with the ukulele. He spent many weekends serving with the Honolulu Police Reserves and he received the Honolulu Police Department Medal Of Merit (Badge 645) in 1965. At that time he was the only police reserve to receive that honor. He was also a Deputy Sheriff for many years. He loved going to Koko Head shooting range and continued to be active there well past retirement. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Doris; daughter, Sherrilynn Leong (Leonard); sister, Victoria Pond; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter Lorri Ann Sumida. Private interment at Punchbowl National Cemetery.
