74, passed away in Honolulu on March 20, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Denver Colorado on September 2, 1945. His family moved to Turlock California after his father was released from the Japanese Internment Camp. He received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from UC Berkeley and moved to Hawaii for his master's degree in Information Technology and Computer science in 1974. He worked as a System's Programmer at the University of Hawaii for 28 years. He was an avid competitive cyclist, and well known throughout the cycling community. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bev Bernal-Masuda; son, Darren Masuda; step-sons, Anson and Aaron Bernal; brother, Michael Masuda; sister, Barbara (Mike) Shapiro and numerous nieces. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
