91, passed away peacefully at his home on Keolu Dr., Kailua on August 1st, 2020. He was born in Hali'imaile, Maui on August 20, 1928. Richard proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and served with the Military Police at Ft. Shafter. He reenlisted 7 times and was stationed in Japan, Korea, Presidio of SF, Okinawa, McChord AFB Tacoma, Ft. Lawton Seattle, WA. He earned a Purple Heart for his bravery and being wounded in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the Army in 1969 and went on to work for the Hawai'i Department of Defense at the State Capitol until retiring in 1984.
Richard married Rebecca AhNin in 1954 and is survived by his four daughters, Marilyn, JoAnn, Chickadee and Stephanie; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grand- children; and brother, Clarence Moniz of Makawao, Maui.
