Born and raised in Nuuanu, Floyd graduated from McKinley High School and Honolulu Business College. He was a lifetime City and County of Honolulu civil service employee starting as an Accountant and ending his career dream job as Superintendent of Golf at the Pali Golf Course where his ashes will be scattered. Floyd was an avid golfer, ferocious reader of mystery novels, talented crafts person, gifted artist, and a silent jokester. He had bragging rights for his "double-eagle" on Hole #13 at the Pali Golf Course.
