Our beautiful mother, Emelia "Mei-Ling", 76, of Pahoa, Hawaii, passed away on August 26, 2020 in Kapolei, surrounded by her ohana after putting up a good fight against cancer. She was born in Honolulu to Graciano Fernandez and Henrietta Manuwa. Mei-Ling was a Farrington High School graduate, a member of Aha Hui Kaahumanu Hilo Chapter and the Hilo Foster Grandparents Program. She is survived by her 8 children; 5 daughters: Sarina (Gabriel) Pereda, Jozan "Kaleo" Buckley, Loke (Larry) Neitzel, Angie (Jaime) Crusat, Al-Me (Dustin) Dickinson; 3 sons: Neal Fernandez, Aaron (Sani) Buckley, hanai son Aulani Green; 28 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother Don (Tiyana) Fernandez and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Given the current state of our islands, we have chosen to mourn privately and hope to share her Celebration of Life in early 2021.
