Irene Abalos ThomasIrene passed on September 11th, 2020 at the Kaiser Hospital. Irene was born on September 15th, 1925 in Kahaluu, Hawaii to Manuel Abalos and Kelina Egbos Abalos. Irene graduated from McKinley High School in 1943. She worked for the Mutual Telephone Company from 1943 to 1945. It was at the McKinley High School dance that Peter had his sister Grace get Irene's phone number and the rest is history. They were married at St. Patrick Church in Kaimuki on October 28th, 1945 and renewed their 73rd wedding vows there. They traveled and lived in many places (Maryland, France, Kentucky and Illinois) making many new friends during Peter's military career in the Army. Home for them was always Hawaii. Irene did many years volunteering at the Red Cross from 1963-1988 and received the Red Cross Certificate of Recognition. One of her many highlights in her life besides her son Peter III was her Hole in One at West Loch golf course. Her garden was her pride and joy spending many hours tending to it.

Irene is survived by husband Peter Jr. her son Peter III (Tyris) of Federal Way, Wa. and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in passing by her parents, baby daughter Joy, sisters, Anna Estrella, Marcelina Lutao, and brother Gaspar (Tommy) Abalos.

Private services to be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, your favorite charity or American Cancer Society.
