FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ANGELA FLOETER
ANGELA FLOETER Angela "Angie" (Akina) Floeter, Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, passed away on July 26th, 2020 in South Bend, Indiana. Angie was born in Honolulu, the youngest daughter and sibling of six brothers and one sister; she was a 1966 graduate of Farrington High School. Angie was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam era, whose unit was the recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal for its photographic work in locating the remains of the doomed nuclear submarine, USS Scorpion (SSN-589).
Upon her return to Hawaii after service, Angie attended the University of Hawaii for a time, then permanently located to the USA mainland settling in San Francisco, where she married her life partner, Edward Floeter. Travel within the USA beckoned, and in the 1970's Angie moved between Michigan, Idaho, South Carolina, and Virginia, finally raising her family of three children in Charleston, Toledo, Baltimore, Ayr, Scotland and Lewisville, Texas. Angie was employed in positions which demanded integrity, dependability and even some curiosity. She spent several years with the Chessie System (C&O Railroad) and in 2000 began her gaming career, ultimately retiring from the Horseshoe Casino in 2020. She was a longtime member of Hamon Gray, American Legion Post 83, LaPorte, IN. Angie's final wish was to be remembered as someone who struggled daily to leave her world a better place because she lived.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Laura Akina; brothers, Theophile, Brian and Ambrose, and Jerrick Tyler Floeter, her eldest grandson. Angie leaves behind her husband of 47 years; daughters: Rachel (Don) Upton and Victoria (Ramon) Kiner, and son Sam Akina (Jules Jones); grandchildren: Bianca and Xavier Kiner, Aaron Upton, Tesla Schock and Juniper Akina; brothers: Theodore, Cyril and Stanislaus; her sister Ursula and numerous other beloved family and friends. Angie's ashes were interred on November 4th, 2020 at Diamond Head Memorial Park.
