FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Almeida Nakashima
Elizabeth Ann Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Na'ali'iwahinehelelani Almeida Nakashima, 80, of Kailua, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2020. Affectionately called Sister or Sis, she was the only daughter of 5 children born to C. Pua and Augusta Pi'ilani (Wittrock) Almeida on February 15, 1940. She was a devoted and loving mother, Godmother and grandmother. She was a devoted and loyal daughter, sister, aunt and friend. After graduating from Kaimuki High School in 1957, she worked at several jobs including Hawaiian Equipment Company and Hawaiian Airlines before her 30 year career with the Hawaiian Telephone Company. In 1962, she traveled to Japan as one of her father's hula dancers on his tour. In 1964, she married her husband of 54 years, Richard. After retirement, she and Richard started new careers as tour escorts for All Hawaiian Travel for 10 years. Most recently, she worked for Vacations Hawaii. Traveling and helping people were her passions. For the last 15 years, she was a proud and active member of the 'Ahahui Ka'ahumanu and the Daughters of Hawaii. She was the current president of Koa'e Kea (Hawaiian Airlines former Hostesses & Stewardesses for the DC-3s). She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Ota, Godson, Rodney Lopaka Williams, grand- son, Noah Ota and sister Hula (Jenner) Cauton. She was laid to rest on November 2, 2020 with her husband Richard who passed away on 12/18/2019, at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe. A celebration of life will be held when it is safe to do so.
