Dennis Michael Mathenia, born October 16, 1953 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, passed away September 1, 2020 at home in Las Vegas, Nevada with David by his side. Survived by the love of his life and best friend of 42 years, David (Kawika) Bright; brother, Thomas (Brenda) Mathenia, St. Joseph, Ml.; nephew, Daniel Mathenia and family of St. Joseph, Ml.; sister, Deborah Abe, nephew, Kevin K. Abe and niece Heather K Abe of Honolulu, HI.Dennis came to Oahu in 1972 and stayed. He settled in and worked at the Waikiki Circle Hotel then the Waialae Country Club before retiring due to health issues in 1984. Dennis had a quick wit, a laugh and sense of humor that would bring a smile to your face. Dennis and David moved to Las Vegas in 2016, to start a new adventure in their life. Life was busy with many fun adventures. In February of 2019 Dennis was diagnosed with cancer. He fought hard with courage and strength of a warrior. We know Dennis is no longer in pain, his spirit walks and dances freely now. Dennis will live in our hearts, memories and spirits forever.
We will miss you deeply. Aloha dearest Dennis until we meet again.
