Sally Jane Lampson Kanehe was born on February 20, 1942 in Pasco, WA to Billie Jane and Neil F. Lampson. In 1965, she married Milt Kanehe and they moved to Honolulu in 1972. Sally earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of Hawai'i and built a career, including teaching in the UH system. In her retirement, she contributed philanthropically to many educational institutions and social service agencies. Sally died on January 10, 2020 in Honolulu at age 77, survived by her daughters Kealani Kanehe Sine and Le'a Malia Kanehe, granddaughters Malia, Kalei and Leiana Sine and siblings Jenny, Mary and Bill Lampson. Upon completion of her final wishes, "teaching" thru the UH Medical School Willed Body Program, she was laid to rest on November 8, 2020 in a private ash scattering ceremony at sea, off Kahala.
