FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Jerome S. Fukuda
Jerome S. Fukuda78 of Honolulu, died after a brief illness on November 5, 2020. Born in Hilo, he was a graduate of Hilo High Class of '60 and the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Jerome was the Manager (Maintenance Support Services) for the City & County of Honolulu, Department of Parks & Recreation. A retiree of the U.S. Air Force he later worked for Gentry Pacific in their concrete structures and plant nursery divisions. Jerome was a life-long judoka earning the black belt rank of 4 Dan. An instructor and member of Moiliili and Boys and Girls Judo Clubs Jerome was the first PAC-5 Judo Coach and one of the founders of the ILH sport of judo. He encouraged coaches from other islands to develop their leagues (Maui and Big Island) which eventually allowed the sport of judo to hold a State Judo Tournament. Jerome is survived by his wife of 43 years, Paula C.H. Fukuda; sons, Jarrett Fukuda (Song Woolery), Jansen (Ke'alapualoke) Fukuda; grand- daughter, Nanea Fukuda; brother, Kenneth Fukuda, many nieces and nephews. Private Services. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
