FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Shigeru Sakata

Shigeru Sakata, 88, of Kamuela, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Manoa Cottages Kaimuki. He was born and raised in Kamuela, Hawaii. He was a retired vegetable farmer and owner of S. Sakata Farm, Inc. Shigeru was also a Korean War veteran, and a member of the Hawaii Farm Bureau and Kamuela Hongwanji Mission.

Shigeru was preceded in death by his wife Emily, brothers Masashi and Tsugio Sakata, and sister Setsu Takashige. He is survived by his daughters Jan (David) Fujiwara and Lynn (Ryan Oshiro), granddaughters, Jenna and Ciera Fujiwara, sister Nobu Asai, brother Shuji (Shirley) Sakata and several nieces and nephews.

Private inurnment services were held at the National Cemetery of the Pacific.
