He will be remembered for his love of travel, food, golf and music. As a career civil servant, he moved from Waipahu to Japan in the 1950's, met his wife Dorothy and had three daughters. He also worked in, Taiwan, Thailand and Korea, bringing his family with him and making many friends along the way. Richard loved get-togethers, and was known for his homemade saimin, New Year's ozoni and frequent bar-b-ques.
Survived by wife Dorothy, sister Marjorie Kosaka, daughters Cheryl (Blane), Teri (Gary) and Joy (Edmund), and grandchildren Staci, Nicklaus, Chelsea and Rachel.
The family would like to give special thanks to Aiea Senior Living and Islands Hospice for the kindness they shared with Richard during the last years of his life.
A private service was held on December 5 at Mililani Mortuary.
