He moved to Honolulu after graduating from Hilo High School and worked as a carpenter and general contractor in carpentry, retiring in 1996.
He enjoyed gardening, golfing and watching UH sports.
Allen is survived by his wife of 62 years Gloria, son Mark (Paula), daughters Angela (Andrew McCullough), Wendy Mascitto (Joe), and Julie Yamamoto, sister Ayako Ninomiya and brother Hideo. He also leaves 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished very much.
