89, of Honolulu, passed away November 30, 2020. Born in Honolulu and graduated from Maryknoll High School in 1949. Served in the Korean War with the Army and later graduated from UH-Manoa. Worked for the DOE as a teacher, counselor & coach at various schools and closed his successful career as Vice Principal at Radford High School and the DOE's Director of Safety & Security. Karate was his passion, he achieved the rank of Hachi-dan black belt, established the SKIF-Hawaii, Salt Lake Dojo as Chief Instructor. He assisted in the formation of SKIF-USA and was appointed the organization's first president. In retirement he loved to golf, ballroom dance, escort Las Vegas travel tours, instruct tai-chi, sing with the Gleeman Plus, travel, and attend his grandchildren's concerts & sporting events.
He is survived by his wife Genevieve; sons Rendell, Wesley, Garrett (Lori); daughter Tricia (Matthew) Young; grandchildren Derin & Kori; sister Clarice Choy.
Visitation January 9, 2021 at St. Philomena Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m., Funeral Services 10:00 a.m., Memorial Mass 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. (limited to 70 persons). Private burial at Diamond Head Memorial. No flowers or gifts, but if you wish, donations can be made in his memory to St. Philomena Catholic Church, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and ALS Association Golden West Chapter.
