Major William C. Lum
Retired Air Force Major William C. Lum passed away on December 10, 2020 at the age of 87. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated from St. Louis School and Chaminade University. Preceded in death by son Ryan Lum, he is survived by his loving family: Molly Lum; daughters Tara Homeyer and Heather Lum (Bill Wasner); granddaughter Nicole (Tamon) Winkler; grandson Jesse Schiess (Willow Hundtoft); great grandson Torin Winkler and great granddaughters Valerie and Vanessa Schiess. He is also survived by brothers Herbert (Ann) and Thomas; sister Vyolet Chu, and many other family members including cousins, nephews and nieces, and two little ones on their way. Major William C. Lum was a Navigator in the Airforce. He loved to fly and would teach pilots how to navigate using the stars in case their equipment ever failed. He flew 121 sortees in Vietnam on C130s, and helped with the fundraising for the American Air Museum in Britain. He loved to ballroom dance, travel, take photographs, play music, and tell "Dad" jokes.
A service was held at St. Mary's Star of the Sea, Port Townsend, WA on December 21, 2020. The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to one of his favorite charities "The Wounded Warrior Project".
