Kathy was born in Dearborn, Michigan to Casimir and Pauline Szymanski. Despite being fiercely proud of her polish heritage, her love of all things Motown, and weekend adventures indulging the fashion of New York City, she made the bold decision at the young of age 21, to purchase a one-way ticket to Honolulu, Hawaii, sight unseen to just 'see how it would go'. Upon arriving to the islands, accepted a position as a receptionist for the Document Company, Xerox, and would hold various positions in administration, customer service, and retire with the title of Implementation Delivery Manager after nearly 50 years.
Above all else, Kathy loved to 'talk story' with anyone and everyone. Lifelong friends from the office, pharmacists at the local Longs Drugs, and even customers she supported throughout her career would learn chapter and verse of everything happening from her. What most never realized is that as much as she loved to brag about her family, she was invested in everyone - cheering you on to achieving your dreams, shedding tears with you when things were difficult, and when words failed, envelope you in her famous embrace.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the love, prayers, tears and kind wishes shared at the loss of a wonderful wife, mom, aunty, and tutu. Her compassion and warmth continue to shine through all of you.
Services will take place on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. St. Ann's Church, 46-129 Haiku Road, Kaneohe, HI 96744.
